Corporate executives, community leaders and experts will gather in
Dallas April 7 to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to the diverse
communities in Texas during the third Annual Multicultural Summit. The
event will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilton
Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront.
Leaders from the community, businesses and academia will focus on this
year’s theme, The Power of Standing Together,as they
explore overarching issues affecting the African-American,
Asian-American, Hispanic/Latino, and gay and lesbian communities.
Keynote speaker for the multicultural luncheon will be Pat Harris,
global chief diversity officer at McDonald’s Corporation LLC.
“We invite the Texas community to join us at this year’s Multicultural
Summit as we engage in a constructive dialogue to continue to advance
diverse voices in our state,” said summit chair Robb Puckett,
independent management consultant. “The event will offer participants
the opportunity to explore a variety of cultural perspectives and learn
about leading diversity best practices in Texas.”
Participants will be able to attend sessions focusing on mentoring for
African Americans, the value of personal branding for Asian
professionals, Latinos strategizing for success, and legislation
impacting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community among
many others. “We are excited to have speakers representing various
industries as well as the educational and nonprofits sectors,” Puckett
said. “Their knowledge and expertise will allow summit attendees to gain
a better understanding of the most pressing issues affecting
multicultural communities in Texas.”
The Third Annual Multicultural Summit is hosted by the Texas Diversity
Council. “My hope is that the summit will continue to stimulate dialogue
about issues of importance to the diverse communities of Texas,” said
Dennis Kennedy, founder and CEO of the council. “Through dialogue,
communities are able to explore solutions and bring about positive
change.”
